Tesla cars
Feb. 9th, 2025 02:27 pmTo my fellow Democrats and other left wing cohorts sporting a holier than thou attitude vis-a-vis Tesla drivers:
I DID NOT purchase a Tesla to make a political statement. I can do that in infinite other ways, without spending thousands of dollars.
I DID buy my Tesla USED (long before Elon lost the plot) from a local, small, family owned dealer. Elon didn’t get a dime from me. The only people who profited from my purchase are the nice family who sold it to me.
I DID buy a Tesla so its FSD can drive me anywhere with no other input from me but to keep my eyes forward and to stay awake. No other car on the market has this technology.
I DID buy a Tesla because its FSD has a much better safety record than any human driver on the road, for the same number of miles driven. No other car on the market has this technology.
I DID buy a Tesla so its FSD can maneuver the car away from imminent accidents, of which, I, the driver am not always aware. No other car on the market has this technology.
I DID buy a Tesla so on rainy, cold days, I can summon it to pick me up in parking lots and to tell it to go park itself when I’m not well and walking hurts. No other car on the market has this technology.
I DID buy a Tesla because it has the lowest maintenance cost and is least likely to break down compared to other makes, gas and electric alike.
I WILL NOT willingly lose thousands of dollars and priceless safety by selling my car, just to appease your illogical “Freedom Fries, paint-everyone-driving-this-brand-with-the-same-brush” mentality.
I WILL boycott the brand in the same way rational people do: by not purchasing a NEW Tesla.
I WILL NOT pass judgement on people who do buy new ones, even though I, myself will never do so, because the likelihood they’re doing it as a political statement is very low. When another brand can do what a Tesla can do, yes, I will definitely judge them then. I won’t hold my breath.
I HOPE the blowback causes Tesla to fire Elon (newsflash: he doesn’t own Tesla, he is the CEO, and can be fired by the board of directors.)
If, despite all this, you feel you must have your say when you encounter these cars out on the streets, BE RATIONAL and save it for people who are purchasing them new. They are easy to spot - 2025 models have a new look. Don’t be abusive. That’s not how you change minds or earn respect.
If you are Canadian and driving an American car, take a moment and think of the hypocrisy of what you are doing before you shame and abuse Tesla owners. Using the “hate all Tesla drivers” logic, regardless of when and how the cars were purchased, you should also hate yourself, your friends who drive American brands, and every other Canadian on the road doing the same, since, as you well know by now, America is the biggest threat to our economy, and possibly our borders, at the moment. While it makes sense to boycott American brands moving forward, it makes no sense whatsoever to unleash your anger on fellow Canadians driving American cars they purchased prior to our Southern neighbour stabbing us in the back and twisting the knife. (And no, it’s not just one man doing it, it’s all 77,284,118 people who voted for him.)
Lastly, people who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw rocks. Are you disgusted by Facebook and its CEO’s support of Trump, but refuse to leave its platforms (Instagram, YouTube) because it’s inconvenient? Unlike having to sell your car and lose money, leaving FB doesn’t cost anything. Are these the platforms you’re using to complain about Tesla drivers? Are you wearing clothes and/or shoes made with child labour? Are you busy typing your outrage with blood diamond adorned fingers? Are Amazon deliveries a common occurrence at your house? Do you consume produce, meats and other products acquired with illegal immigrant, slave labour? Do you make all your major purchases based on the behaviour of their respective CEO’s? (<—better sit down for this one if you think you are flawless). Many more examples to list, but I think you get the gist.
